Bugs Bunny Had the right Idea.

Remember Bugs Bunny? Every time I saw him, he was chewin’ on a carrot.

I love Bugs Bunny but I couldn’t stand carrots. Now, I can eat baby carrots raw but I still have a hard time chewing up large carrots. My nose wrinkles a bit. I’m not sure if it’s the texture or the taste but I’m determined to keep eating them and make myself like them.

In the meantime, someone suggested carrot juice. I thought what’s the harm? I could always just pinch my nose and swallow, right? And I would still be getting the health benefits. So last week, to the juicer I went!

Five carrots later, I had this really pretty glass of orange. So I put it up to my nose. Not bad. Took a tiny sip.
Not bad.  Then I took a big swallow.

At first, I thought I was going to be okay, but soon a “zing” hit me and my entire face crinkled and I shook my body like a cat shakes its paws when it steps in water. But I was determined to finish it and took it to work in a coffee tumbler. My coworkers soon noticed my reaction and couldn’t help themselves from laughing. After a few tries, I gave up. It seemed far from enjoyable.

Then I read this article about a man who drank carrot juice every morning. It wasn’t the only change he made in his life but he said that in a year’s time, his eyesight actually improved. Upon studying more benefits of carrots, I discovered carrots and carrot juice is a mysterious healer for many ailments and improves our skin, hair, teeth, liver function and of course, eye sight. In the article, the man talked about having to add other fruit to his carrot juice so that he could tolerate it. He eventually drank straight carrot but had to work his way up to it. “Ahhhh haaaa!”

So…I had to give it another go. This time, I added a little pineapple. And it tasted good! I still had some belated “shakes” or what I call “zings.” Pure carrots seem to have certain potency to me BUT, the good news is, I finished an entire 16ouces! Can I get a “wooo hooo?”

So, I’m going to make a commitment: a glass of carrot juice every morning for 30 days. And since I missed it this morning, I will have to fit it in today. So 29 days to go.  Lets see if it brings me some visible health benefits these “guru’s” were talking’ about.

“Hey Bugs! Let’s hang out.”
